Hi there! I am Niloofar, an accomplished architect, urban planner, and researcher specialising in architecture and urban culture, with a focus on the socio-political dynamics of the Middle Eastern cities. Currently, I am lecturing at the Institution of Creativity and Innovation (ICI), Xiamen University, China, where I mentor students and lead courses in environmental design. I hold a PhD in History and Theory of Architecture from Ghent University in Belgium, where my research examined 20th-century urban development in Tehran.
In addition to my academic career, I have contributed to several architectural projects in Iran and Belgium, collaborating with institutions such as ULB, UHasselt, OFFICE 1010au, and Perspective in the research-by-design project called Segmentation VII. In the context of Europe, my work often focuses on the intersection of architecture, socio- economic value, and urban productivity. I am also a published author and served on the editorial board of ETOOD, an online platform for contemporary Iranian architecture.
